We headed to Kandy next, the hill country capital. Apparently it is the seat of culture and the arts- it has a number of famous temples, the most famous of which is the Tooth Temple, which contains a tooth of the Buddha. It was a stronghold of the British colonists after they took it from our last king, so it has a number of old colonial buildings. We celebrated all this culture by having a well appreciated beer at the Queens Hotel.
