Have no idea what this is, some non-segmented worm, perhaps even a slug of some sort- it had the coolest head (?) as it moved around over things it frilled the edges of the flat bit at the front and could feel around like it had fingers. fascinating to watch, i couldnt quite figure out what it was doing with the snail... Posted by Picasa

Hey nini--
that is a cool worm! I don't know what it is either, but it looks like a very colorful and large version of worms I saw growing up in Dallas, Texas. So maybe it's got cousins all over the world? The ones I remember from Dallas were small--no longer than two inches, and not very wide--and kind of a pinky-gray earthworm color. But the head was exactly the same shape. Weird... if you find out what they are, I'd be curious to know. Hope all is well otherwise! Miss you!

OK, well actually, it looks like it might be a type of land planaria... I just found this link--these are the ones I remember from my dirt-digging childhood...

Youre absolutely right tiffy, ever the scientist. I did some searching and it is a land planarian in the family Bipaliidae, genus most likely Bipalium. They are native to Asia and are actually exotic to N. America. Ahhhh, the internet is a great thing.
